- By the time anyone had noticed he was gone, the sky had filled with golden light, signaling the end of the day drawing near. The search began immediately. A dozen officers and a small team of volunteers were tasked with searching the nearby undergrowth for any sign for the child. As dusk crept up on them, so did anxiety, the stress of failing a now constant resident in the back of every searcher’s mind. One volunteer doubled back to the water treatment facility near the edge of the forest, a last ditch attempt to make sure nothing was overlooked. What greeted her there was the toddler they had been searching for; tired and hungry, but safe.
