She couldn’t remember why she came here.
On her phone, there was only a strange set of photos—five of them, with no time, no source.
The first showed a garden.
The stone paths were arranged too perfectly, like symbols of some hidden pattern. She stood at the entrance, feeling it wasn’t an entrance at all—
but a beginning.
The second was a staircase inside a building.
She remembered walking there. Yet somehow, whether she went up or down, it never seemed to end.
She began to wonder… was the photo recording her?
The third showed a skyscraper.
It stretched unrealistically into the sky. When she looked up, she saw a faint shadow at the top—
as if someone was watching her.
The fourth was a billboard.
It read: “15 reasons to stay.”
But when she looked again at the photo, the words had changed—
“You’ve been here 15 times.”
Her hands started shaking.
The fifth photo showed a cornfield.
She had never taken it.
But when she lifted her head—
The same cornfield stood before her.
The wind moved through the dry leaves with a low whisper.
Her phone lit up by itself. A line appeared on the screen:
“Welcome back.
For the 16th time.”
