about this story

If I had to describe my life right now, I would say it is under construction. Every class, assignment, and late night spent studying is another brick being laid on the foundation of who I am becoming. Although the process is not always easy, I remind myself that construction is messy before the final vision comes together.
Some days it feels like I am standing in front of a brick wall that refuses to move. Balancing the demands of leading at work while pursuing my Ed.D. at VCU can be overwhelming. There are moments when deadlines pile up, responsibilities compete for my attention, and I question how I will make it all work. Then I remind myself that walls are not always meant to stop us. Sometimes they are there to test our determination. When life becomes challenging, I stay grounded in my faith. My faith reminds me that every obstacle has a purpose and that perseverance produces growth. Instead of focusing on how far I still must go, I focus on taking the next faithful step forward and trusting that God is guiding my path.
My goal extends beyond earning a doctoral degree. I am working toward launching She M’Powers, a program dedicated to encouraging, equipping, and empowering women to recognize their value, build confidence, and pursue their purpose. The challenges I experience today are shaping the leader I need to become for the women I hope to serve tomorrow. I know the journey will not always be smooth, but I refuse to let temporary obstacles define my future. Every assignment completed, every challenge overcome, and every lesson learned brings me one step closer to walking across the graduation stage and turning my vision for She M’Powers into reality. My story is still being written, and I am committed to seeing it through.
