about this story

As we approached the coast, we began to realize that this trip would be one that we would never soon forget. Let's face it, there are animals in New Jersey, but nothing compares to the ones we would see Alaska. Alaska is home to some of the most rare species of animals. In fact, as soon as we stepped off the boat Michelle and Joe spotted a rare speciest of humming bird which was taking a mid-afternoon snack.

After an afternoon of unpacking and bird watching, we decided to talk a walk across the frozen Alaskan tundra. Temperatures were well below freezing, so lots of clothing layers were necessary.

However, the bearing the cold temperatures was worth it as we spotted some mountain funny looking mountain sheep and one of the world's most endangered species, the white spotted owl.
