about this story

It was my first time away from home. I had been to Seattle and Vancouver but that is not the same. We flew to Heathrow and went to Burton-on-the Hill near Morton-in-the-Marsh and then to Paris. It was great but too too cold, colder than Canada. My friends girlfriend sent him an email that she would not be joining us, by now we were in Germany and it was not only cold but the mood had soured. I looked on the maps online, "What is the most Southern Point in Europe?" Matala on the southern coast of Crete in Greece. A 4 day bus ride to Athens and things were looking up, a bit warmer. An overnight ferry to the port of Iraklion and we were almost there. Another bus ride through the mountains of Crete and there we were on the beautiful beach facing Africa.
