Johnny was listening to his sister's iPod in the back of his mom's tiny blue car. He had his dad's hat pulled down over his eyes, blocking out the sun. His sister, Jenny, was at home working in the garden. She wouldn't miss her iPod, he thought.
He remembered the days his father used to bring him to the fair. He was a little boy, but he can still recall the cool breeze on his face and his father's encouraging words to Jenny as she showcased her latest crops. Pumpkins were her specialty.
His father also used to play the piano. Johnny could remember the way his fingers danced across the keys. He hoped he would someday be able to play like that. Listening to the piano piece on his sister's iPod and thinking about the Great Pumpkin, Jenny's masterpiece, he missed his father terribly.
