"Welcome to Paradox" the sign screamed. A runaway pig darted across the road right in front of us. We were coming to Paradox to start anew, aka farm our guts out. My parents were interested in being fishmongers, but me and my sister Hayden wanted to run around catching toads and mudfish all day. You know, farm summers.
Since I was only thirteen and Hayden was eleven, our parents really didn't care what we did with ourselves on these long, summer farm days. We'd made a fort out of grass and already settled down in this tiny little town.
