Five Card Story: Reunion

On December 5th Jacob paid a long awaited visit to his dear old friend. It had been ages since they had last seen each other. Their reunion was, in Jacob's mind, to be epic since their departure was everlasting in his mind. War tends to do this to a person. He decided the meeting would be held at John the Baptist Catholic Church since that is where they experienced their first encounter.
It was the year of the Rabbit and the festivities were well on there way. Jacob wore his red and gold trim laces in celebration of the new year. He knew this would be a memorable year; Rabbits always shine on their year.
As he made his way the town's center square he decided to walked by the shoreline. He wanted to capture the image that he had grown to love, which brought by immense joy and at the same time unbearable pain. He sat on the cold wet sand awaiting the sunset and embracing the fond memories of his childhood.
He remembered his father in his early years before Juarez iron fist came to power. When they were free to voice their opinion. When democracy was a way of life not just an ideal. He remember his old schoolhouse where mother worked as a the school nurse. He wanted to capture it all in and keep it before he left to war.
