Everyone loaded on the bus. There was excitement in the air, but there was also a stench. The bus was filled with the smell of something rotten. I thought I might puke as I sat down in my seat.
"OMG!" I thought. "This has to be the grossest bus I have ever been on! I can't believe the school rented such a gross bus."
My best friend, Laura, plopped down next to me. She was already talking 90 to nothing. She never stops, but that is why I love her.
"I can't believe that the school thinks this is sanitary. It smells like the last retirement group to the casino died here. YUCK!"
This was our class field trip to clean up the run down graveyard on Peace Church Road. As the bus driver pulls up to the gates I get a little shudder inside. It is a creepy, old cemetery. They say without attention and care the graves are going to start rising out of the ground. The barb wire fence covers the entire property, warning unwelcome guests to turn around. The leaves have piled up on the graves. There are some headstones buried a few inches below the ground from the years and years of neglect.
