about this story

I step out into the world, looking for flowers, for beauty. I do not see beauty, I see the pipes of the city streets. I feel sadness. I remember my childhood gardens in the sun. The door hinge squeaks reminding me of the large french windows in my childhood home. A happy home. There is aged bricks, aged just like me. Disgusting, old. I see a man across the street. It is Peter. I should have married Peter. Peter is thinking, "Clarissa wastes her time, I do so much in India, and Clarissa does nothing."
