Walking through the neighbourhood, eager to get home. Strolling past the house with the bamboo garden in the front lawn. Past the maple tree, wading through the fallen leaves, and smelling the autumn scent. Crossing the cul de sac, almost halfway home, stopping at the corner, the car stopping, waiting for me to skip along in front of it. The hanging purple flowers were up next, their sickly sweet scent filling my nose, making me sneeze. Finally, running alongside the metal fence, waiting for the gap, crawling through, racing through the back door, home at last.
