about this story
Jane was a smart child. More than smart; she was gifted with the ability to hear and talk in ways no adults could. So when she saw the dog coming towards her out in the woods she began to "talk" to him in dog language. "I am on an important journey dog-friend. My quest is to find my twin brother who was lost to me at birth. Guide me through the river wilderness." And so the dog changed direction and led Jane over and through the thick wilderness, carrying her on his back and nudging her though the darkest sections of the deep woods. Finally they arrived on a wooded path where they walked for a full day, until, up ahead a small figure appeared. It was her twin! And he too had the same gift. He shared that he knew a land where everyone could talk to animals. And so they decided to leave the world Jane new and trave through the mountains to find their new home.
