about this story

This was the day before they built the Wall.

That day, Karls was standing in the back of an elevator waiting for the four hundred and forty forth floor.

His interview took place at a company that brainstormed and developed creative solutions for public anti-fecal campaigns.

The clock was ticking, the Upper District grew impatient. They didn't want any more fecal matter being deposited in their half of the city by wandering Lower District dogs.

Karls was immediately hired, then fired. Which was too bad because he had a great idea. The Wall. They stole his idea and claimed credit for it.
Now Karls lives in a Silo forty kilometres out of the city.
