The smell of the roses are so sweet they are nearly overwhelming. I think back to times when I was young and I would sit with my grandmother in her garden. Roses were her favourite and it is only fitting that they are here with her at the end.
I reflect on the days we would spend together at the beach. She would let the sand run between her fingers and tell me about how the sand shifts and may be from a world away but in the end is still just sand. She would throw the sand to the wind to remind us of the strength of the wind and how we are just a small part of a giant universe.
She loved the stars and all the secrets they held. We would lay in the cool damp grass at night and try and count all the stars in the sky
She was the tall strong foundation for our family. Her branches reaching out to protect those around her.
As I stand to say goodbye I know that one day we will again meet where the sands shift and everything will be as it once was.
