about this story

Once upon a time, there were 3 first grade teachers who were forced by their well-meaning Idaho Core Coaches to jump on the amusement park ride of professional development. As the three teachers slowly approached the ride with multiple ideas and aprehensions, the carney (Coach) slammed shut the gate and locked them in! Once on the ride, they realized it wasn't so bad. When you got to the top, you could see all the possibilities and ideas were quickly thrown about. Then as the end of the ride neared, they realized they wanted more time on the ride so they planned a future date.
That date arrived and they had taken different tracks to arrive at their destination but with hard work and perseverance they all ended up at the same spot with a well planned, well thought out, amazing PD to share at the mini-conference.
The day of the mini-conference arrived and the three stood at the bottom of the stairs. All knowing full well that once they reached the top the PD would be in their past and they only had to look back to see how far they'd come. Well, it wasn't just a nice strait shot up the stairs. They took a few bird walks along the way. Time to refine and discuss, time to observe other PD's and analyze what worked and didn't, times of discussion during the actual PD. But... by the end they had all made it to the top of the stairs.
As the day finished and all PD's were done, everyone went home to a house with a wonderful dinner prepared for them by their significant others and they all lived happily ever after!
