about this story

It started like any other day, nothing was different. The brick of my aging apartment building looked more weathered than usual, but I ignored it. Surely it was just the lighting. As I walked to the cafe where I always had coffee, I was concerned. Signs and buildings that were usually vivid looked darker, more sinister. Almost as if a shadow had taken place over the entire town, a darkness that could be seen but not felt. As I walked further into town, I gasped. Everything was void of color. Gray, black and white took over my usually bright world. I turned in circles, terrified of this sudden darkness, this sudden loss of color. I made eye contact with a man across the street and saw the panic in his eyes as well. Screams echoed around town and I knew, color has been lost. Since that day, although many have tried, the world has remained dark.
