Freud spent his greater year in Paris, where he impressed by the work of the French neurologist (Jean Charcot). where he uses hypnotism to treat hysteria and other abnormal condition. When he returns to Vienna, he was influenced by the work of his friend and Viennese colleague, Josef Breuer, who had discovered that when he encouraged a hysterical patient to talk uninhibitedly about the earliest occurrences of the symptoms, the symptoms sometimes gradually abated. And he developed a topographical model of the mind, whereby he described the features of the mind’s structure and function. Freud used the analogy of an iceberg to describe the three levels of the mind. The conscious, preconscious, and unconscious mind. His knowledge of philosophy helps the other patient that has a mental illness. where he became the tutor of his patients and gain many followers.
