about this story

The only thing that sucks about being an only child is that you have to keep all the family traditions going. My great aunt owned a salon. She passed away a few months ago and I am the next in line to “take it over”. I really don’t want to. I just graduated high school and I was planning on taking a year off of school. I wanted to figure out what I wanted to do instead of going to college for no reason. But instead, I am packing my bags, moving to California, and running a business. For the next two weeks I was non stop packing. I packed everything in sight. My clothes, shoes, dresser, lamp, everything.
When I got to California I immediately wanted to get back on the plane and go home. This place was not beautiful California where everyone was tan and pretty and at the beach. No. This was creepy, gross California where a bunch of weirdos live. I took the key to the salon out of my pocket and opened the door. It was filled with dust. Everything was covered in tarps and it was so dark. I took a deep breath and said to myself, “ I got this”. I opened all the windows and tore off the blinds. It already made the salon look way better. Dust was flying in the air and it made your lungs have to work harder. I took the old broom from the corner and started sweeping. After a little I got hungry so I went to get some food. On my way there I decided to go to the store to get some new decorations. My great aunt had a bunch of money saved up for me to use to redesign the salon. I picked out black salon chairs, new mirrors, paint, decor and I wanted something to be special about the salon so I picked a bunch of fake orange flowers. My aunt loved orange roses more than anything. So I decided I was going to have a flower wall. It would help represent my family and it would look good at the same time. I got to work at the salon and 2 months later it was ready. As soon as I opened, people came crashing in. It was amazing. I never thought that I would be able to pull this off and I am very thankful that I got the opportunity to.
