Introduction(Pic 1):
Before the advancement of technology, children were raised through human interaction and real life experiences. Nowadays, the majority of children are being parented less by their parents, and more by technological devices.
(Pic 2):
According to Pew Research Center, 71 percent of parents with a child under the age of 12 are worried their child spends too much time in front of screens. The fault on the parents lies in their initial reactions to the emotions or boredom of their children. Parents now have developed a strong inclination to give their emotional or bored children a technological device to keep them calm, busy and satisfied. Which in turn creates a strong desire in the child to want a technological device
(Pic 3)
Children who spend a lot of time on technological devices are more susceptible to anxiety, depression, short attention span, poor posture etc. It seems kids are becoming so caught up in the virtual experience, they forget about experiencing nature. Being that nature provides the opposite of what their technological devices provide; immune boost, improvement of mood, increase in focus, increase of energy levels etc.
(Pic 4)
Despite there being negative links to the unregulated use of technology on children, there are also benefits that shouldn’t be undermined. Due to the plethora of teaching videos and video games, children can learn many things they wouldn’t be able to without technology. The early exposure to technology can help them attain different jobs that require that type of experience.
Conclusion(Pic 5)
Because the unregulated use of technology can be harmful to our well-being, children specifically. Balance must be sought when they’re these different technological devices. If we don’t help them find balance, we should get ready to discover them going down dark paths.
