about this story

Call me stubborn, but I am not stopping this car. I have errands to run and places to be, and these gas prices are killing me. I feel like I am drowning. How is it possible that my compact sedan requires 60 US Dollars to fill up with gasoline from empty? I plan to use every last drop before returning to the gas station.

Of course, naturally, if I waited that long to feed my car again, I would reach an empty tank in the middle of rush hour traffic and hit every red light on the way to the gas station. It would be the universe's way of punishing me. The "EMPTY" alert always sounds when I have multiple destinations that I need to reach. My heart drops every time time I hear that dreadful noise.

Everyday, I consider my alternatives. Go electric? There's not enough charging stations near my apartment. Ride a bike? I have not tried in over a decade. Walk? I would get nowhere quickly. As such, I guess I am presently stuck with these horrific gas prices.

The "EMPTY" alert just sounded, but I still have three more errands to complete today's To-Do list. Call me hard-headed, but I am not stopping this car.
