about this story

Introduction (Pic 1):
Regardless if you are a cashier or a neurosurgeon, we all work in order to provide for ourselves and our loved ones. As adults, we spend the majority of our waking hours at the workplace, yet we have little to no say on what happens. We need to come together and fight for democracy in the the workplace NOW!

Pic 2:
The modern day workplace is an undemocratic authoritarian dictatorship. Workers are have to work long hours and are underpaid. Furthermore, many workers work in poor working conditions and are told what to do by unelected managers who have near total authority over what they do and how they do it. Executive boards will often vote to relocate overseas, outsource labor, reduce pay, cut benefits, fire people, etc. if it means increasing profit margins. All while the workers are completely powerless.

Pic 3 (Counterargument):
Many opposed to workplace democracy argue that workers are unqualified to run their own businesses. They claim that workers are uneducated and uncapable. By giving more control to the workers, the business will be torn apart Furthermore, because certain decisions that are necessary to keep the business running may hurt the workers, it important that ownership have direct control over the business affairs.

Pic 4:
This is nonsense. Many of the issues that we currently face are due to a top-down organization of the economy which preys on people for the sake of profit. Also many managers and owners are far less qualified than their workers. Many people own businesses not because they are intelligent or qualified but because they are simply wealthy or have connections. Worker's understand how their jobs work from the inside out and without them, nothing would get done in the first place.

Pic 5 (Conclusion):
By introducing workplace democracy, we can create a world where people have a direct say over the most important aspect of our lives. We would no longer work for a group of unqualified managers and executives who want to squeeze us for their personal gain but rather, we would work for ourselves and each other. A society that has workplace democracy is freer, happier, and more democratic.
