about this story
the policemen stood at the mouth of James's room, jaws wide in shock. James's lay on his crumpled bedsheets, sprawled out like an eagle in the azure sky. he looked, peaceful, almost. like he was sleeping, except for the jagged slash across his small throat. blood seeped through the bedsheets as a star was drawn on the wall with his blood in a gruesome display of madness. jagged shards of glass from a mirror were sprinkled across the room, glistening in the light. the wooden bedpost was driven into his thigh, almost like a vampire exorcism. written on the wall with blood "breaking mirrors is bad luck...", with a sinister smiley face carved across James's face with a knife. outside, a masked man slipped out of the gutter with a smirk on his face, clutching a broken mirror.
