A young boy was nervous to go to a new school in a new city. This school was a prestigious art school, where students were expected to pick their specialty and become experts in it during their time there, until graduation.
The boy's parents were famous sculptors and put an immense amount of pressure on the boy to follow in their footsteps. The boy almost gave in to his parents wishes, when one day he walked past the auditorium and saw a teacher playing the bass cello. He was captivated by the curves, edges, and strings of the bass cello.
The boy would go to his sculpting classes, but secretly spend his free time after school to learn everything he could from the teacher at a local music store.
In the Spring, the school had their annual arts showcase, where students had an opportunity to showcase their specialty and what they have learned. The boy's parents were expecting to see what their son had sculpted, but were shocked to see him playing the bass cello.
At first they were upset, but they became moved by the music and the joy they saw on their son's face. The boy received a standing ovation at the end of their performance. The parents relented and ended up supporting their son in his journey.
At the end of his time at the school, the boy, now a young man, was offered admission to a famous music conservatory. He began performing at venues all over the world.
