We packed the cooler and headed to the shore for our little adventure together. I had always wanted to take my nephew, Tommy, to the beach around his birthday. Leading up to the day, we kept calling it our special trip. We played in the water, searched for the perfect shells, and built sand castles. We even walked to the pier and rented some fishing gear to see what we could catch. After dinner, we took a bike ride into town to check out the local ice cream spot. We passed a gathering of people, where a reporter was doing a local story on the town's heros. The firefighters were being featured and were giving tours of the ladder truck. We parked our bikes, and Tommy waited his turn so patiently. He climbed in the truck with a huge grin and waved to me from inside. After his turn, we headed to get ice cream. He ordered a double scoop and told me every detail he saw. I asked him if he had fun today, and he exclaimed I'll never forget this special trip! Can we come back next week?
