Five Card Story: The Guard of the Tower

about this story
Our story begins with a hard working guard by the name of Jason. He has one job, and that is to guard the castle that he works at, and follow strict orders. This is one of the most heavily guarded towers in the world, located in Madrid, Spain. Although the job doesn't pay well, he does everything he can to keep people out, and keep tourists happy, and loves his job. One day, he meets an old friend he had in college, named Janette. Janette is a kind woman at heart, but she needs to get some of the gold in this tower to support her family. It's been 6 years since they last spoke, and they're both very happy to see each other. Jason is oblivious to the fact that she wants to go in, and Janette is conflicted morally, putting her friend's job in danger. She tries to go in, as quickly as she could, but is caught by Jason, and he is conflicted if bringing her to jail is worth it. He eventually decides to report her. A few months later, she goes to jail, and Jason drives home that day, to do his favorite thing. Reading.
