about this story

We're all like crayons. We can be broken time and time again but we still continue on so long as we keep trying. I myself broke a crayon once. Except this crayon gave up hope, she used her last view of this world to look at me with such sorrow and sadness. The memories flashed back. Everything about that night felt wrong. The emptiness of the road lined with trees lost it's once carefree feel. I felt the change in the air even as we walked hand in hand through the puddled streets but I continued on. I walking to her front door, and knocked on the bright blue wood for the final time. We walked to the car, her hand and mine as the glowing smile never once left her face. She hummed softly to the lyrics of whatever song was playing. I stole glances at her when ever I got the chance. Only a mile from our destination I took once last look a her before bright lights invaded my vision and a honking broke through the quietness. A sharp pain erupted in my right shoulder so I looked down only to be met with the sight of my once white shirt stained with blotches of red. My head twitched to the right to see her with blood dripping from her head and her chest pinned to the chair by the safety of her seatbelt. Smoke erupted as the flames licked as her leg. I could hear the distant sound of sirens but all I could see was her. It was all my fault.
