about this story

One day a woman and a man married, he was a poor man. She was from old money. They would sneak out to the fields at night just to see each other. One day, around three in the morning, Katherine was about to go back home when she heard her father calling her name. They both knew that if they were seen together they could never see each other again, and Sage would be killed. They decided then and there to run away together. They eventually found an old run down train station, they got tickets to go up north. When they got there Sage found an old, dark, rustic, abandoned house for them to stay in. Eventually Katherine became pregnant with a baby boy, which they named Peter. The next winter Sage sadly passed. Katherine was pregnant, poor, and hungry. She had two children to take care of and had no work experience. After nine gruesome months she gave birth to a surprisingly health baby boy. After months of getting work here and there but never anything permanent she decided that the best thing for her and her boys would be to come back home. She came back home on the same train she left on. Katherine remembered exactly how to get home. Her nerves were wracked not knowing the reaction she was going to get from her family. When her family saw her they were over come with joy! There were many tears, hugs, and kisses. The boys grew up happy and healthy, Katherine never remarried because her love still lies with Sage. She stills thinks about him everyday and hopes that he is proud of the choices that she has made.
