about this story

When first given my assignment for professional development from my principal, my first feeling was that everyone would be so excited to learn about my topic. I imagined my fellow teachers excitedly coming to our meeting, ready to soak up all of the amazing information I was about to impart. However, as I got into the planning, I found that I was only spinning my wheels. Maybe my colleagues wouldn't be as excited as I thought. What direction should I go? What would be the most beneficial thing to share? The good thing about planning and practicing is that soon ideas begin to bare fruit.

Finally the day of the presentation came. Would all of my planning pay off? Did I have beneficial information to share. As the time approached, I felt like a little tiny frog in a sea of people who knew so much more than me. How could they care about anything I had to say?

The presentation went well. People participated and responded, and the feedback was positive and helpful. I felt like I had just climbed a great big boulder. Now I know that the next time I will be able to climb and even bigger mountain.
