about this story

My grandfather was a great musician. Each day he would play for hours at a plaza near their house. His melodies became so well-known that people would travel from across the country to listen to him play. Yet, my grandmother never went to see him. She never traveled to the plaza, she never heard a single note of his music. She would sit on their porch waiting for him to return.

From early morning and late into the night his fingers danced across the keys delighting passerby until finally he caught the attention of a rich and powerful titan of industry. And his time at the plaza grew longer and longer, until one night he didn't return home.

He was whisked away by the rich, powerful fan he had acquired - now tasked to play for the titan wherever he went. Boarding the train, my grandfather was worried. How would he find my grandmother again? How would she know his fate? As he looked at the closing door of the train car - a beautiful woman rushed through, making it on-board just in the nick of time.

It was my grandmother! She had chosen that very day to leave the house, to go to the plaza, to hear my grandfather's music. She was brought to tears by his talent and passion, and as she went to tell him she saw him being forced toward the train by the titan. She rushed to get a ticket, to board the train, to follow him wherever he would go.

They spent their journey hatching a plan to escape the clutches of the titan. They slid through the cabins of the train and slipped out into the night until finally they found themselves back home again. From that day on, he only played music from their porch, sitting next to his wife and smiling.
