He has been here for under a month and he already despises me. His name, which was painfully extracted, is Major Hewlett. He refuses to tell me his first name. I do try and be kind and patient, but he doesn't want to hear it. I can't blame him, he came from the American Revolutionary War times. He is fighting to stop the colonists from making America a country, how would you deal if you learned that all your efforts are worthless, that the rebels win in the end? I got tired after a little while, just being around him is exhausting! Nothing against him, but he asks what everything is! How do I explain how a stoplight works when you're not even sure how one works!! Today though, I'm trying to give him something a little special. I had to buy Hewlett new clothes, for he couldn't walk around in his King's Army uniform. I called him down from the stairs. I live out in the country, I have land and two horses. Plenty of privacy when you're hiding a red coat in your house. He came down in his new clothes, grumbling. I tried to stick to his style, tan skinny jeans and a black t-shirt , and yet he still finds them strange. He refused to wear the tennis shoes I got him and stuck with the boots that went with his uniform. I looked out the window, it was a cloudy day, I had to make a stop before I took him where I wanted. In the car, he still stares at me and the car, or the radio. I try to make somethings normal for him, I really do. But he hasn't even heard of a lead pencil! I drove through the town, stopping at a red brick store, "Stay here , I just need to run in and grab a few things." This red brick store was my family's restaurant, I still run it with my Digital Design company, but I don't visit it like I used to. I went in and grabbed the cowboy hat and boots I left here the last time. I took of my tennis shoes and put the boots on, donning the hat once I got up. I grabbed my tennis shoes and walked out. I threw my shoes in the trunk and came to the driver's seat. Hewlett was staring at my hat and looked down at my boots. I sighed, "Hey Major, I got a surprise for you." He didn't look to happy when I said that. "Don't worry, it won't be anything strange or peculiar unless you don't know what a beach is." I turned to him and smiled. He returned a small one, the first one I've seen since he's been here. I drove all the way to the beach, by the time we got there it was noon and there was some fog, but nothing that I can't handle. I parked the door and got out, Hewlett did the same. I motioned for him to follow me, smiling brightly. I walked towards the bank, the ocean was calmly going back and forth. I looked over my shoulder and he was following me, for some reason he was looking at m instead of the ocean. I turned around and walked backwards "You're gonna have to walk faster if you want to get me!" I yelled. I turned around and ran down the bank, I looked over my shoulder again. He stopped walking and was shaking his head, smiling. He started running towards me, I ran faster. I jumped over rocks and ran until I saw the dock. I ran all the way to the end of the dock. "Bet you don't know what a dock is!" I yelled at him teasingly. "I know what a dock is!" he yelled back. I started rocking my end of the dock, making it sway back and forth. That didn't stop him, for he came running down the dock, I thought he was gonna stop, but he was going to fast. He crashed into me and we both went over. The water was wet and cold. My hat was still on the dock dry somehow, my boots, taken off earlier, were at the pier of the dock. I turned to him and pretended to be angry. "How dare you! I'm all wet!" I started splashing him, he started splashing me. We both were soaking wet when we got out. We must have stayed longer than we realized, for the sun was setting and the sky was gold, orange maroon and violet purple. It was like someone had ran water over a water painting, mixing the colors until they are swirling together. "Look up, Major" I said tiredly. "Edmund." "huh?" I asked. "My name is Edmund. Rebel." he replied. "Lobster back. Oh wait, you don't know what a lobster is!" I teased. He said nothing but laughed. We were both wet, we were both each other enemies, and yet we could make this work.
